
Danica Sue Patrick is an American former professional racer. Danica Sue Patrick is among the most accomplished woman in American open-wheel racing time. Her victory at the Indy Japan 300 was her first win. She quit high school with the permission of her parents in 1998 and relocating to the United Kingdom to further her career. Patrick was a participant in Formula Vauxhall before moving to the United States in 2001 because of a lack of funds. She raced in five Barber Dodge Pro Series races in 2002 with Rahal Letterman Racing. Patrick was an official Toyota Atlantic Series racer for the next two seasons. Her best result was third in championship standings for 2004 season. She became the first female in the race to secure an overall position. She was awarded the Rookie of the Year at both the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and the 2005 IndyCar Series. She saw improvement over the next two years, racing for Rahal Letterman Racing in 2006 and later Andretti Green Racing in 2007. Patrick was ranked sixth overall in the drivers standings in 2008 following her Japan victory. The following year she improved her position and was fifth overall in the driver's standings. Patrick also scored an all-time high of third at the Indianapolis 500, which was the best performance by any female driver in the race. Patrick's overall form dropped during the year, but she did manage to place second on the oval track. Then she quit IndyCar in the year 2011 to pursue stock car racing full-time.
